Inspiring ideas on shapes inspired by plant life.
With a newly commissioned project, we anticipate inspiring ideas with a design philosophy that transfers functional ergonomics onto shapes inspired by plant life. A series of virtual models is processed, and these models are taken from the characteristics of primary shapes. Product innovation is carried out not only on the identifying shape, but also on some specific metal elements that, when properly joined onto plastic elements, will embellish the final object. The Concept Design phase then starts, with the drafting of study sketches, taking advantage not only of a stylistic function inspired by the exterior geometric form, but also by predetermined measurements relating to functional components. A 3D CAD modeling system makes up the support of the first design sketches, which are created in adequate numbers so as to offer the customer a wide decision platform. A series of virtual prototypes are produced, which fall in between two extremes, passing from a simple and minimal shape, to intensive shapes that suggest an extreme revision of the object. The interventions made to the measurements of the study model allow for the step by step following of instructions dictated by the Designer’s inspiration, so as to obtain the desired shape, with the sort of flexibility that is so necessary for arriving at a final point, after the customer has expressed his or her final decision. During the Concept Design, and therefore during the drafting of the geometric graphic, some names are also assumed that must be used to strengthen, at the image level, the inspirational idea of the various objects. After having configured the external shapes, it is time for the definition of the relative thicknesses and interior fittings, which are subject to thorough verification, so as to ensure that they are compatible with the volume of the internal functional components. The automations of the CAD CAM design allow for the direct creation of three-dimensional models, and the corresponding mold design for plastic materials.
